Pairing Thomas Bryant and Anthony Davis... Will It Work?

In wake of AD's injury, Thomas Bryant has stepped up and played above expectations. On the season so far, the young center is averaging 13.0 points and 7.3 rebounds on 72% true shooting. His prowess as an offensive option has been a large tool in the Lakers' recent surge, but, what about defense? Bryant's defensive net rating this season is a harsh 116.8 and despite his best efforts, he does not look like a viable rim protector in the league.

In awaiting Davis' return, the Lakers coaching has hinted at the idea of starting Davis and Bryant together. Bryant's lackluster defense could be cancelled out by Davis' DPOY-level defense, (Davis with a 107.3 defensive net rating this year) and Bryant's 3 point shooting, mid range touch, and finishing ability could compliment Davis' disappointing jump-shot performance of the past few seasons.
